Raw, Real and Revealed at Nazareth this weekend

Being a recent graduate of the Brockport dance department I’ve learned some things never change.  You always have work to do, you will most likely have more than one job, and if you don’t feel stressed out or
challenged, you forgot to do something.

Not only do I teach children dance at Perinton Dance Company and adults at Draper, but I’m also a personal assistant to the chair of the Board of Rochester City Ballet and the newest production assistant for the company.  My newest position allows me to learn first hand what it takes to make a performance happen from its inception, usually a year or more in advance, up until the curtain falls on the last show.

My first concert as production assistant is coming up this weekend. RAW, REAL and REVEALED is a contemporary dance concert featuring new works and repertory pieces.  There is a unique collaboration with composer Stephen Kennedy and a performance with lutenist Deborah Fox. Jamey Leverett, the Artistic Director, will create dance phrases during the performance with verbal input from the audience.  This will give the viewer insight into the creative process.

Rochester City Ballet is a growing dance company and presents the best of classical ballet and contemporary dance.  Come see RAW, REAL and REVEALED this Friday, Feb 1st at 7pm or Saturday, Feb 2nd at 3pm at Nazareth College. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Nazareth College Arts Center box office: 585-389-2170
